Upbeat East Bengal FC keen to carry winning momentum into away fixture against Hyderabad FC
After a confidence-boosting win against Jamshedpur FC in their last game, East Bengal FC would be highly confident ahead of their fixture against Hyderabad FC in the ongoing Hero Indian Super League season. The Red & Gold Brigade will cross swords with the defending champions on December 9 (Friday) at the GMC Balayogi Stadium.
EBFC beat the Men of Steel 3-1 on their own turf to register their third victory of the season. While Cleiton Silva netted a brace, Naorem Mahesh Singh made three assists to become the first Indian to achieve the feat in the league’s eight-year-history. Winger V.P. Suhair scored the first goal for the travelling side.
Needless to say, EBFC would look to carry the winning momentum into the Hyderabad FC match. A win against Manolo Marquez and Co. would give them a shot in the arm in the race to the playoffs.
HFC, meanwhile, suffered two consecutive losses in the current Hero ISL season. However, they made a strong comeback against Chennaiyin FC in their last outing, winning it 3-1.
In the four matches between the two sides so far, HFC have won twice, while two games ended in stalemates. Come Friday and EBFC would leave no stone unturned to register their first win over the Nizams.
Speaking to the media a day before flying to Hyderabad, EBFC Head Coach Stephen Constantine said, “We prepare for all the teams. It’s about implementing those things on the field. We are looking forward to the game. We are ready. Hopefully, we can get a positive result.”
Striker Semboi Haokip, who got his first goal of the season last month, kept things simple, saying, “The most important thing for us is how we play and get those 3 points.”
