EBFC women beat Chandney SC 11-0 to march into the semis of the inaugural IFA Women’s Shield
The East Bengal FC women’s team registered an 11-0 victory over Chandney Sporting Club in their second and final group match of the inaugural IFA Women’s Shield at the Tehatta Ground on Monday (May 29) evening.
Tulsi Hembram (1’, 5’, 34’), Mousumi Murmu (2’) and Barnali Karar (19’) found the back of the net to give the Red & Golds a 5-0 lead at half-time.
EBFC’s attackers continued piling pressure on the opposition defenders and scored six more goals in the second half. While Tulsi scored thrice in the space of seven minutes (48’, 50’ and 55’) to finish with six goals, captain Mousumi struck twice in the 46th and 58th minutes to complete her second hat-trick in a row.
Sulanjana Raul scored the final goal of the game from the penalty spot in the second-half stoppage time.
EBFC Women will face West Bengal Police SC in the first semi-final on May 31 (Wednesday) at the same venue from 10 AM.
